Eulogies Flow for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has passed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began spending more time together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a different tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles judge ruled to prevent the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the local authorities.
A court order issued a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the tragedy, public figures expressed different responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making provocative remarks that were widely condemned by numerous individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics last week. Speaking on his program, Rogan labeled the statements as "shocking" and suggested they showed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by remarking that an aide ought to have stepped in when the decision to speak on the death was made.
