Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
