A Ton of Anime Updates Landed Over the Festive Season
The Yuletide season offer a multitude of pursuits far superior than checking the headlines: opening presents, feasting on delicious food, and employing patience techniques to not yelling at loved ones. It is wished you managed to enjoy all these things and more. However, the world of entertainment never sleeps, and this is particularly true for the realm of anime. Numerous noteworthy developments came out during the holidays, and if you missed a few, here is a compilation of the juiciest bits.
One-Punch Man Its Third Season Is Moving Forward (In 2027)
Without a doubt the biggest announcement, the notorious disaster that was the third season of One-Punch Man proved insufficient to halt further production. Season 3 will return with a second cour in 2027—such a distant date they easily could have labeled it season 4. Even more shocking, the studio J.C. Staff will remain leading the project. At least this time, director Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the start, which could be taken as a good sign. Yet, the promotional image for the new episodes is identical to the one used for season 3, just with protagonists Saitama and Garou looking opposite ways. This makes me think that, nowadays, they could be mocking the fans.
The Ruri Dragon Series Is Set to Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation
Kyoto Animation has built a name for being an top-tier animation studio, making its mark not just for the superb artistry of its work but for the fair treatment of its employees—a uncommon practice in the industry. Unexpectedly, until now, it had not produced an anime adapted from a manga from Shonen Jump, possibly the best-known magazine in the industry. Ruri Dragon will break that tradition, and what a excellent choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo gained widespread acclaim when it debuted in 2022 after just a small number of issues, but then went into a two-year hiatus due to the author's health issues. When it returned with a lighter schedule, the series showed it maintained the fans' appreciation and enthusiasm, and now everyone is thrilled about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.
The Kingdom Series Its Sixth Season Has a Sequel Now in the Works
Kingdom is the highly popular, long-running Shueisha manga that is not One Piece. If you've are unfamiliar with it before, it's because it only fairly recently obtained an English translation, but the anime has been airing for years, and its sixth season was yet another excellent entry. As it happens that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been confirmed as in production, and it will probably air in 2026.
Science Saru Is Bringing A Witch in Mongolia To Anime
One more studio famous for the excellent quality of its productions, Science Saru has given us hit shows of the quality of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, more recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be handling the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, which is based on the true story of Fatima, an powerful woman and thinker in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Based on the trailer, the anime titled Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a highly unique and intriguing visual style, which evokes Ranking of Kings. Debuting in July 2026, this one will absolutely be on my watchlist.
The Tougen Anki Series Will Return With a Season Two
Immediately following the conclusion of the final episode of the first season, it was revealed that Tougen Anki will be receiving a follow-up. Inspired by the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki brings to life the manga by Yura Urushibara. The upcoming season of the anime will delve into the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a concrete air date has yet to be revealed.
